Basilica of the Holy Cross of the Valley of the Fallen

Basílica de la Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos

The Valle de los Caídos "Valley of the Fallen" is a Catholic basilica and a monumental memorial in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, near Madrid, conceived by Spanish general Francisco Franco to honor and bury those who fell during the Spanish Civil War.

In 1960, Pope John XXIII declared the underground crypt a basilica. The dimensions of this underground basilica, as excavated, are larger than those of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

The visit to the Valley of the Fallen, including Basilica and Benedictine Abbey, was an unexpected precious memory.

Sometimes, Life rewarded us with beautiful dreams of love...

A Dream In Black & White

Alcobaça Monastery

all I've ever done is dream
I never tried to be anything other than a dreamer
even in a dream of black and white - is full of poetry

A Lost Story

Vatican Sky

When I look at the sky - I see a history
The history isn't on page anymore
Once a story tried to tell gets lost

The Light Shines Through History

Alcobaca Monastery

The Monastery of Batalha was built in 1385, is One of the UNESCO  world heritage Site, a Dominican convent in the civil parish of Batalha, central region of Portugal.
It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in the world.

Encountering this church was a very precious experience I had with Portugal.
Thanks again, Belita  :)

Absence

Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones,
as the wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire.
